Cirkul is a beverage company that makes drinking water with delicious and nutritious flavors. The company develops an innovative beverage delivery system that makes it easier for the average consumer to drink more water. Cirkul was founded in 2015 and is based in Tampa, Florida. Operating through D2C e-commerce, they expanded into major retail partnerships in 2018, reaching customers across the United States. In 2022, they launched nationwide in Walmart stores. By 2023, Cirkul had become one of Walmart's fastest-selling products in the home division. As they quickly grew from a startup into a medium-sized company, they encountered several operational challenges. Hiflylabs helped standardize their data operations to serve both customers and their financial reporting needs better, enabling further growth and future-proof efficiency.

Challenge

During rapid scale-up, startups often outpace their operational infrastructure. Our client's data operations—spanning inventory, orders, shipping, and financial reporting—had become overwhelmed by increasing complexity and volume. This led to data quality issues and unreliable reporting, compromising business decisions and profitability. The organization urgently needed to standardize its data processes. Hiflylabs addressed these challenges by implementing enterprise-grade solutions to replace legacy systems.

Solution

We implemented a new, comprehensive data architecture, overhauling previous processes. First, we streamlined the data infrastructure and reduced operational costs by half by migrating from Redshift to Snowflake. Our custom ingestion pipeline integrated Shopify data from both API and webhook sources, providing stable historical data alongside real-time insights. We revamped core business reporting for transparency and accuracy, developing a flexible data mart that enables filtering across multiple dimensions—users, orders, products, and product attributes. The solution unified previously disconnected systems, creating an end-to-end operational chain linking Shopify, Shipstation, fulfillment, and accounting processes. Through dbt implementation, we standardized custom ERP processes, replacing a years-old, custom-built legacy system with an enterprise-grade solution complete with security modules. This transformation supported detailed inventory analytics and financial reporting, delivering a unique, integrated data ecosystem tailored to our client's needs.
