insurer kickstarts AI ops with comprehensive reviews & pilot

Our client, a European insurance provider wished to scale up its AI operations. Over the course of a year, we conducted a comprehensive review of the local branch, examining data architecture, code bases, AI governance and MLOps, and a comprehensive evaluation of their use cases. This review and discovery process served as basis for creating a large-scale AI strategy, that determined the required technological and organisational steps that support the company to reach its strategic goals. Several changes implemented locally will also support global operations down the line.

Challenge

Existing AI solutions, lacking governance & infrastructure

The local branch of a European insurer was looking to scale up its enterprise AI capabilities. We conducted a multi-faceted review of data architecture, codebases, AI governance and MLOps, and evaluated their AI use case ideas. They had a modern, Databricks-based infrastructure in place, provided by their parent company, but lacked internal knowledge on how to make the most out of the system.

Out of the 7 workstreams, one was aimed at developing an HR chatbot that can prove the viability of the platform.

Solution

AI strategy & new HR tool MVP based on large-scale review

Based on our findings, we advised the local branch on scaling up AI operations and outlined a roadmap with required steps, while also providing suggestions to address gaps in AI governance and MLOps. Additionally, we supported them in building knowledge bases on running Databricks-based systems.

Later, we developed a custom tool, currently in MVP phase, that will allow all employees of the local branch to use a chat interface for HR-related queries, alleviating load from HR employees. In the future, further functions will be added.
